Broken windshield – what to do? (first aid guide)
Your tempered glass broke – what next? The good news is this: when your tempered glass cracks, it has done its job. The screen is almost always saved. Here's a quick first aid guide to help you avoid further damage and get your screen replaced safely.
1. Do not tear off the glass with your bare hands
Broken bulletproof glass can create small shards. Avoid pulling the glass out without protection. Use:
- paper towel
- tape
- plastic card
This way you won't scratch the screen or your fingers.
2. Check if it's just the glass – not the screen
If the screen image appears normally and the touch does not react, there is a 100% chance that the tempered glass is broken, not the phone screen.
- No black spots → good
- No color bleeding → good
- Touch works → good
If any of these are faulty, the screen may be damaged. But almost always it's just a matter of protection.
3. Remove the broken glass calmly
The best way:
- Put tape on the crack.
- Carefully lift by the edges
- Pull evenly from one corner
Do not press on the glass. If the glass breaks, collect the pieces with tape.
4. Clean the screen before applying a new protector
Use:
- microfiber cloth
- dust sticker
- alcohol wipe (lightly)
Clean screen = better adhesion and the entire protection lasts longer.
5. Put the new cover in place immediately
Screen without protection = highest risk of cracks. Our recommendation:
➜ New tempered glass – the best impact protection
➜ Hydrogel – if you want a more flexible option
6. Remember: broken glass = normal
The tempered glass is supposed to break so that the screen doesn't break. It acts like an "airbag" that absorbs the impact.
The worst mistake is to continue using it without protection – then the next crack could be on the screen itself.
